Active Puppy Behavior.

Calming down your puppy in a new or exciting environment.

Over Excited Puppy?

Active puppys and having your puppy pounce around and run about is a common occurrence with a puppy in its new exciting surroundings.

Puppies will play and be very energetic for short periods before they have to rest before their next active spurt so the running around shouldn't last long.

When your puppy behaves like this, respond in the opposite manner and be very calm about the whole thing. Speak calmly and slowly to your dog, and resist playing around too much to excite your dog further. If you're calm then it will calm your puppy down too.

If you see this behaviour getting too much then try ignoring your dog by giving it no eye contact, no patting or stroking and no attention at all. Even though your puppy is only young if you treat it how to respond and act when they're young it will make it a lot easier when they get older and more destructive.
