History

The bulldogs you get today have a very different nature from those of his ancestors. These dogs are descended from the ancient Asiatic mastiff, but their development took place in Great Britain. The name bulldog, which is medieval in origin, refers not only to the vigorous look of a little bull, which this hostile dog has, but also to the authority with which this dog attacked bulls in arena combat before that exercise was forbidden by law in the nineteenth century.

Characteristics

The Bulldog is reasonable in size - they are also heavy and built low to the ground. They are strong dogs, and also kind, friendly and brave. These breeds of dogs are not cruel or violent, and they are quite dignified. They possess a reactive demeanour and have an original sense of humour about them.

Temperament

Although the appearance of the English bulldog can be somewhat threatening, it is among the gentlest of dogs. But they will also see off any intruder, and very few would risk a close encounter with these dogs that are brave enough to take on a bull. These dogs are described as very loving and reliable animals. They are also very gentle with children, but they are known for their bravery and their outstanding guarding abilities. Being stubborn, this breed can be very relentless - they do not give up easily.

Care

The smooth, fine and short-haired coats of the bulldogs are very easy to groom. You can just comb and brush them with a firm bristle brush, and they should only be bathed when necessary. Their faces can also be wiped with a damp cloth every day to clean inside the wrinkles. These dogs are very average in their shedding. Training

Early socialization and obedience training are a must for the Bulldogs. They have a strong inclination to be tough and stubborn. It is significant that they be taught to know their owner is dominant. These dogs do not respond well to harsh or rough methods. Training must be done with firmness, justice, tolerance, reliability, admiration and reward.
