Changing A Dogs Direction - Left.
How to direct your dog in an easy and controlled manner.
Walking Your Dog To The Left
With the left about turn, your dog will learn that the space in front of their nose is needed by you. If he grasps this concept, they will learn to keep their heads out of the way and close to the left knee of their owners. When walking in with your dog in the correct spot and your dog starts to think about pulling in front of you, you should move your hand halfway down the leash. Move back in the direction of the tail of your dog and then take a step so that you are in front of the dog with your left leg.
Make sure that you do not stop to move toward the left until you have completely changed your direction. With this method applied your dog will learn not to force his way ahead. There is a chance that you may collide with your dog and you should not shun away from doing so as he will then learn to stay out of your way in the future. Make sure that you walk straight in front of your dog and that your feet are near to the surface. If the dog gets out of your way in the correct manner, be sure to give him enough praise. It is very important that your timing in doing this is right, as you might fall over the dog if you leave this for too late.
