Dog Digging Problems.

How to stop your dog from digging up the lawn and garden.

Dog Digging

Dogs dig because they're either bored, in need of shade, or just because of their personality, here are some tips to keep your dog from digging everything up.

Toys

As always toys are a very good way to keep dogs occupied and away from digging up your prize lawn. Give them something exciting and new regularly to keep their intrest levels up and away from digging.

Shaded Area

Your dog may be overheating with all the running round or exercise they're doing or if the weather is hot you may want to give your dog the option of being in the shade with some water to keep their temperature down. Dogs often dig to find shade and shelter.

Exercise

Is your dog getting enough exercise? Dogs often dig because they're in need of exercise. Take your dog out for a walk or play with them if your think this might be the case.

Digging Area

Give your dog a place to dig in the garden, try a sand box or anywhere out the way where it doesn't matter how much your dog digs. Encourage them to dig in the selected area by putting them there whenever they begin to dig elsewhere.

Fenced Area

Try fencing off everywhere that is out of bounds for your dog to dig such as flower beds and well manicured lawns so your dog never gets the chance to dig there.
