We rehomed a collie cross about six weeks ago (we think she is a bit spaniel) She is very active and loves digging chewing and playing and approx 13 months old. Apart from she appears to have had little or no training she's lovely. My main area of concern is that she has sessions when she barks at my parents and snarls baring her teeth. It generally seems to be when she wants attention but its worrying especially with recent news items about dangerous dogs. Has anyone any advice/experience of this ?

Has she bitten...do you think she could bite?
If yes to either, I would introduce a muzzle gradually to prevent stressing her, then use it when your parents are there. A low key thing that may work when she behaves like this is to remove her quickly away from that room so she is all alone for one minute. Bring her out once silent. Repeat as much as is needed. Reward calm and quiet behaviour with food and allowing her to stay in the company (maybe her meal trickled in?). I'm away for a week now, let me know please ![]() Nick
