Default extremly excitable

Just wondering the best way to deal with over excitement.....Dalton (24 weeks) seems to shriek when he gets over excited, if he sees someone who he really likes, or a dog he goes into overdrive, obviously i cant let him near every single dog we see, as some arnt very dog friendly which i respect, but im holding on the lead for dear life... its not a bark its kind of like a combination high pitched noise, similar sounding to what can only be described as him being thrashed to death. his tail wags and at first i thought maybe this is a fearful sound but his body language isnt fearful...i just dont know how to handle this because trying to calm him doesnt work until the distraction is away......A woman looked at me like i was killing him, even though i was just stood waiting for him to calm down, because in this state he takes no notice of me what so ever, the rest of the time he will hang on your every word
thanks in advance for any help

He sounds under socialised?

From what age have you had him?

Find a good class near you that will indulge the noise and guide you and him into a better way of coping with the behaviour. More exposure will help reduce the anxiety.

Good luck

Nick

I have had him since he ws 8 weeks, he has been training at class since he was 10 weeks, and we still go training every week, plus the dogs that are out when we are on walks, he sees dogs and people all the time, and still reacts in this way, he gets to play with dogs quite alots, he just goes really excited all the time with dogs, almost like an obsession, just dont know why he does it

I am very lucky, he is a great pup, apart from the screeching bless him, i also work for myself so he comes to work, and meets lots of ppl everyday, its less of a problem with people, he can be controlled, but with dogs he goes into overdrive and makes such a racket to get to the other dog, whic ofcourse isnt always good thing if they are dog aggressive etc, As for the rest of the training he is a star, does more than i can ask for onsidering he is such a young pup

We have the same problem with Tash our new border collie. my bf finds that if he lets her near the other dog to have a sniff and say hello then she calms a lot quicker.

Hi Princess, i find that if he is off lead, he is fine, but i always put him on his lead if i see another dog, best to e safe than sorry, and some dogs are aggresive towards other dogs arnt they, in which case you cant let then off, he starts the screeching before i assess the situation, some owners are great and will say, its cool, my dog likes other dogs, in which case i let him off lead again, and everything is fine until i have to go, then he starts screeching again, i just dont understand it, because he is socialised well, i made sure of it, with dogs and people......
Hopefully i will be able to sort this situation soon, fingers crossed anyway
