jack russel 7 months old was perfect at all the simple commands and still is all except for lie down this he simply refuses to do

Could be you have overdone it a bit and he has just got bored. I would leave it for a couple of days then try again, and not make a big deal of it if he refuses.

I would take him to the vets he might find lie down in that position uncumfortable?

Other than that I would try treating him every time he lies down by himself, but saying nothing. Then gradualy adding in the command.

Another trick is to entice him under your knee as you sit on the floor with a treat. Once his tummy hits the floor keep the food treat there and stop pulling your hand through.

Once he hits the floor say 'Down' and release the treat.

Oh, another trick is to get him to crawl under the leg bar of a stool or similar using the above method.
