Hi everyone
I am new to the forum and was hoping for a little help. I am currently a dog groomer so have experience with dogs and would like to expand my career by becoming a dog trainer too. Can anyone recommend any good courses? Thanks in advance ![]() |

I have had years of nothing but day in and day out practical experience, and now is the time to 'validate' it through a work based learning degree at considerable expense both in terms of money and my time. The behaviour industry will soon be much more regulated, and people will more than likely only be allowed to practice if they are PG degree qualified. This is much closer than you might think. The CIDBT is the leading body for such education. Don't be left behind if it's your livelyhood! Cheers. Nick

Oh of course it's good to if you alreay have had experience but for anyone new to or planning it as a career they should always start with a good ole book and their own dog, and if possible other dogs.
Then go for a qualification. For me I don't know if I'll ever do a course, but I did like that training for Enlish police dogs, looks like a cool job to have. |

Certainly yes
![]() There are as you rightly point out other roads to follow and each may vary, so there is choice - which is a good thing. The CIDBT is connected to the Middlesex University, so this adds genuine weight to the prospectus and then being recognised in the industry. Well worth a look. Nick
