Curl Lip over enthusiatic yearling

Hi, thought I would post on here to get some advice about your hungarian vizsla. Murphy is a fab dog, calm temperament and loving dog at home and will obey basic commands, however he is so friendly, he legs it to greet other dogs and their owners. Unless I hide and call him or walk the other way he will not come back. When another dog makes eye contact with him he starts running and looks back at me! but keeps going! He is very good at the 'leave' command with food or the kids toys, but it doesn't work for other dogs. While he is very good natured and is wagging his tail wanting to play, bounding about, he is quite a big dog and I worry, and know that other dog owners are not so impressed by Murphy joining in their games!

Any advice on how to curb his enthusiasm would be greatly appreciated!!

As one of those owners that doesn't like big dogs coming up to my little westie, I would suggest you keeping him on the lead with a halti and when he starts to go up to the other dogs tug the lead same time giving him a command like stay etc.

I would like to add I do also have same problem with my dog but I honestly think it is me worrying to much especially with the big dogs like german shepards LOL, what I suggeseted above I am going to start this with my dog 2morrow beware that it will take time to stop him from running up to other dogs.

Keep us informed thank you.
