Default Dog Wakes up to early!

Hello,
I wanted to ask about my dog - he is a 6 year old british bull dog, we moved into our new home about a month ago now and he was settled in really well or so i thought!
Until a couple of nights back he has always been fine with waking up when we do - but instead now he wakes up at 6 - 5.30 and it seems like it is getting earlyer!
He goes for a wake every night and is let out in the day, he is fed twice a day and seems to be ok gerenally apart from now!
We have tried the radio on - which this did used to work, i didnt know if it was the new house or not! What shall i do - starting to lose sleep over the fact that i know i will be waking up at 5 every day now!

Thanks every much

Sarah

Pirate My dog wakes up too early

My advice would be to teach him to sleep in a nice sized crate. That way you know where he is, he isn't wandering around the house getting into mischief. You can also cover the crate with a blanket, making sure to leave one side away from a window uncovered for air circulation. Make sure all the curtains are drawn so his room is as dark as possible.

Also make sure he doesn't have a bladder infection and that is waking him up because he needs to pee.

Regards

Sally

I get up early for work. Then while I eat my cereal, I catch up on yelp and email and my space....

I know that offers no help, Kerry...I just wanted to join in on the fun of posting of "I'm up so early"

I know nothing about dogs, but does it get too light? Are there other noises? Can she sense other dogs outside?

Hey,
I don't know much about the sleeping arrangements but i'll help all i can.
I would try checking that the dog isn't just asking to go to the toilet as thats all i could be.
Its good to take them for a walk before bed, but also try making sure the dog is active in the day, that they are played with and happy.
Also make their bed 'their space' have a basket or blanket thats comfy. Try to have the bed somewhere quiet and dark when the curtains are closed as well.

Same here Kevils4, i'm awake for work at 5.30 five days a week, it can get so tiring can't it!

My dog used to get up at night and then first thing scratching the door to go out and waking me up, this lasted for a week or so, not sure if this is the same but at the time me and my partner started doing different hours at work therefore it was a change in rountine that did it to him. after the couple of weeks of the routine he started staying alseep and i sometimes even now when i get out of bed and go downstairs he is still in his bed and just looks at me then puts his head back down.
hth.
