Dog Re call issues

Hi i am new to this forum (so hello to every dog lover ) I have two cockapoo"s called Holly and Harvey 15 months old, normally very good, but Harvey has decided not to come back when called, he will sit just far enough away so i cant get him, i have tried all tones in my voice, treats walking away etc etc !!! He now sits by the back door in all weathers as though he wants to come in but doesnt ( we have a dog door ) he doesnt use it ??? to get him in we have to ring the front door bell, so he belives we have a visitor.

Any ideas !!!

Hiya

This is a case of going 'back to basics'.

Drop the idea of the dog flap for some time until you have all of this issue resolved. I often find quite a few problems around dog flaps-I don't favour them.

Very simply walk out with the dog each time it needs a toilet break. Place the dog on the lead before you leave the home. Take your dog to a desired spot and once it has gone reward with a tit bit and come straight back in-offering plenty of praise once back in and another treat.

Sheer repitition will set up a new habit. Do this every time for a month with the lead on, and then do it supervised as the dog drags a light line (this ensures the dog is within your grasp, and it cannot ignore you) that you don't need to hold, and then remove the line after a coupe of weeks once you're happy it is resolved.

Good luck There are other ways to do this, but this seems straight forward to me.
