Hi,
About 6 weeks ago we had a new dog come to live with us, he is a Jack Russell and we called him Jasper, the vet thinks he's 3/4 years old. We already have a 4 year old Jack Russell called Sadie that we have had from a puppy. He is settling in well, he is very loving, good with the children and very welcoming to guests. There are a few things that we are having problems with and it doesn't help that he was a stray and we don't know his background. The main problem is that he has poor digestion. We seem to be getting on top of this by getting him on a healthy diet but this gets comprimised when he steals food. He takes food from worktops, goes in the bin and even manages to get the lids off my cake tins. Each time he does this the poorly tummy returns. He is not beyond training as I have managed to stop him from doing this whilst I am in the house, also he has stopped stealing Sadies food when he has finished his own (under supervision I might add). At the moment if I go out I remove the bin from the kitchen and make sure that all food is in the cupboards or fridge. This is prevention rather than cure and would rather he just stopped this. Any ideas? Will this behaviour gradually stop as he learns to behave? Is it due to him being a stray and possibly without food or has he just been poorly trained? Any help would be appreciated although he is is getting better and doesn't seem to be beyond help. Gail ![]() |

Hello, I was just wondering if you have received help? If so it would be nice to know how you solved your problem. My dog is 7 months old, very big and strong. I really want to start training him but he is not cooperating at all with me.
