Confused Sudden anxiety at night-don't know why

Hi, I have a lurcher approx 20 months old, neautered female and apart from pulling on the lead/jumping up/ chewing (which she seems to have grown out of now ) we have had no major problems with her.
Suddenly she has started to cry and whine at night, we haven't changed anything- still walk/biscuit/bed, but after about 20mins she starts, at first I thought she must need to go out so I got up, she wouldn't go out just lay outside our bedroom door. It took me about 10mins before I could get her back into the kitchen, where she began whining and scratching on the door. I've tried totally ignoring her but after 4 nights I'm beginning to feel tired!
Any advice please? I'm completely puzzled as to why she should have started to do this, she's healthy, eating fine etc.

No, nothing has changed. She's calmed down abit now, ie was fine last night but cried the night before rather than crying every night. I've checked with neighbours and she's quite if I've gone out during the day.am I right to ignore her when she does cry in the night, it's hard lying there wide awake listening to her, but don't want to reward her by getting up.

Have you had any thunder lately or fire works going off etc?

I would, if you can, try leaving the radio on low for her, it should act as a distraction to her.

Hope she settles down soon, it's not nice when they are worrying - my girl is awful with thunder and fireworks and goes into her crate.

We had some thunder one afternoon, but she didn't seem to notice it, she listens to the radio() if I go out during the day, so will leave it on for night time too.

It's worth giving it a go.

Does she have a crate? is she crate trained? They are a god send for my dogs, esp my bitch who HATES thunder and fireworks.

She grew out of her cage about 6months ago, as she was from RSPCA we had no idea how big she was going to get. Only a little whimper last night though.
