Hi there everyone,
I have a 5 month old Hungarian Vizsla, don’t get me wrong she’s a great little dog and very clever, she can sit, stay, lay, fetch and recall. She’s also house trained except for a few issues I just can’t seem to work out.
Both are basically related to putting her in the crate. Firstly she’s not in the crate for great lengths of time during the day and will stay in it all night quietly until the morning.
The problems are – she will always poop in the crate, be it bed time or if we have to put her in during the day to pop out, it’s like she does it on purpose. Even if she poop in the garden 10 mins before, she will still go. I’ve tried timing when she goes, getting up at different times in the night, putting her in for 5 mins before bed then taking her out in the garden, not feeding her a few hours before etc. I thought they didn’t poop in their bed! Not her, I have to wash it everyday
The second issue is as soon as she hears our alarm clock or someone get up to the toilet in the morning she will start to cry, she will also cry if put in the crate during the day like I go upstairs to shower but she’s fine if we leave the house. It’s not that she needs a toilet, because she’s already been in the crate (see above), it’s not the fact that she has pooped in the crate because I’ve got up to clean it up then gone back to bed and she will still cry with a clean crate. If she doesn’t hear us she will stay quiet for any length of time, even if I have a lay in.
So in short, I need her to stop messing in the bed and stay quiet until I’m ready to go and let her out. Any help/advice/tips..... Please.
