I'm looking to get a behaviourist in for my 8 month old Dobermann, I've only just got him and he has some issues, I really want to help him but don't think puppy training classes will work. Can anyone reccommend someone? And what are the usual fees? Has anyone else had a behaviourist assess their dog and is it worth it?

Hiya,
I would recommend finding someone from the APDT Welcome to APDT - Association of Pet Dog Trainers UK Many of the trainers I have met who are APDT registered are also qualified behaviourists and very reputable. It still might be worth taking him to training classes too for socialisation and general training which may help some of the issues. Fees can go from £25+ an hour, but price doesn't necessarily mean quality! If anyone spouts any dominance nonsense at you, run away fast!! Goodluck! Let us know how you get on ![]() |

Good dog trainer can cost you up to around $30-$40 per hour. Why don't you try to train your dog yourself first and see if he is able to be train by you. If he can't then you can search for expert to handle your dog. Just my opinion.

You may need to update your records...good behaviourists can charge up to $200.00 per hour.
