Default very anxious german shepherd

Hi everyone,
Well me and my husband are having some issues with our 5 year old German Shepherd, Meadow
She gets very anxious when my husband is, for instance, outside or in another room, and she cannot get to him. She paces, whines, and often does a really horrible yelpy bark that hurts our ears and drives us mad! She is (strangely) fine if he leaves the house properly, even for 8 or more hours, but when she can see or hear him but can't get to him, she goes mad!
Its very annoying and must be upsetting for her, and we have a baby on the way now, and I can only imagine the stress that would be caused by her yelpy barks and running about madly with a newborn baby in the house!
My husband's partner that he was with before me, died when Meadow was a puppy and then we had to sadly give away another german shepherd that she had grown up with, due to them fighting. So I dunno if her issues come from these events?
Is there anything we can do to help her? No dog trainers want to touch her cos she isnt a puppy!
Thanks!

whereabouts are you?

what have you tried training wise already to help with these issues?

has this always been the case or developed recently?

Hi,
She has been this way ever since I've known her, although I think it has got worse since we had to give the other dog away - even though they did fight they really loved each other and I think having the other dog made her a bit more settled and calm.
We havent really tried anything properly, although we've tried different tactics such as ignoring her, shouting at her, and holding her collar and stroking her and trying to make her calm - the latter works slightly sometimes but never for long periods of time
We live in Cornwall.
Is there anything you would suggest doing? Im just not sure here being so manic would work with a baby, and we'd both be so sad and feel so guilty if we had to give her away she's great otherwise! She doesnt like other dogs much but we can deal with that But she's great with people, great with kids - she'll let them pull her tail and ears and not get annoyed, she's never aggressive, its just the state she gets herself into that we find a problem!
Thanks!
