Default Dog poo problems

Hey folks,

Just wanted to post this as i had a problem which is now solved but thought i would share for the benefit of anyone else having the same trouble!

My Benji is about 7 months old, and we adopted him from a rescue centre. He has a lovely temprament and is an absolute delight, but as far as we can tell he hadnt been taken for walks on a lead before. This wasnt a problem as i'd trained 2 pups before but Benji seemed to have a bit of an obsession with his poo! Walking past other dogs' mess didnt bother him, but when i tried to pick up his he seemed to not want me to, getting in the way and then barking at the poop bag and wanting to tear it open. This was quite embarrassing as did lead to spillages on a few occasions.

I hoped that in time he would learn that this is the process and he would settle, but this was ongoing for several weeks. It didnt matter if it was me or my husband walking him, stilll the same obsesssion.

One day i was out shopping at a little farmers market and saw someone using a bag to put their dog bags in. At first i thought it was a bit unhygenic, but the lady whos bag it was started talking to me about Benji as he's a collie cross like her dog. I asked her about the bag and she explained that it carries your poop bags, and then you can put the full bags in there til you get to a bin. Its even scented to stop it getting pongy. They are called dickybags - Dicky Bag and i looked it up and ordered it as soon as i got home.

I was hoping that a bag might be the perfect way of concealing it from Benji and it works! Sometimes picking it up is still tricky as he likes to get in the way, but once the bag is in the dicky bag he is fine and we can carry on our walk.

Hope that might help someone else, although I know i have a very unique doggy on my hands!

Looks interesting. Though nothing a bum bag won't do!

I used to be able to use a pocket having ab order terrier, but now with my wire-haired vizsla I need something much bigger!
