Hi everyone!
I'm a 25 year old girl living in Blackpool with my 16 months old male JRT and 4-5 year old female rottweiler. We got the rottweiler from RSPCA Preston in August, and she's such a lovely dog. Very well behaved, obedient, walks heel off lead, good on recall, loves her cuddles and attention, and there's no problems with her what so ever except for.. She's not good with passing other dogs on the lead. Most of the times, she stops to stare and refuses to move. Some times she will whine and 'cry' loudly. Other times, she will jump towards them, pull on the lead, and bark/growl. I've not found a direct cause to this, as she's brilliant with our other dog, as well as she's ok with dogs off lead coming up to her, and other dogs she's more or less stumbled over. If a dog walks up to her whilst on a lead, she wants to play after sniffing it. We've had two 'accidents' in the dark when she's been off lead where there's been dogs coming, and she's gone over to see them. Came back on recall. I'm 98% sure she wouldn't attack the meeting dog if we dropped her lead etc, but I don't wanna take any chances with such a big dog. I don't know if she's reacting like this on a lead of frustration because she wants to play, or if she's unsure. I could not tell. She's been OK walking with another dog, (although that was only a month after she came to us) and didn't try to tell him off after he mounted her (cause stress) several times. She's been snapped at twice by a jrt-mix without raising an eyebrow. She's amazing with our JRT in every way. I'm using clicker training, which she's getting quite well and learning fast, but not in this case. I've decided to look for someone who are willing to walk with us, and train on passes on the street. It's to hard to do this randomly when we meet a dog. So do you live in Blackpool, have a friendly dog, and would meet us for some training on passing, and maybe also a good long walk every now and again? I would really appreciate some help from a friendly dog lover, to spend some time on this, and also on games, fun and walks. Is anyone willing to help and have some fun? |

I think you may have already founded your training mate, I want to start training my dog Stanly at the moment and focus on my 11 week old puppy later on. What I would like to know is if, training my dog with another dog be something that can help Stanly train better? Would it make a difference?

Ecenur,
Please open a fresh thread of your own, as you're doubling up asking more new questions when the OP has not been responded to yet. Thank you. Puppyface. Good question, and well done for being pro active in your efforts to secure her behaviour. This could help you here: Aggression on the lead. Also, as you're clicking and treating, get hold of a copy of 'Click to Calm' which you should find easy, clear and straight forward to follow. Good luck, keep me posted! Nick
