Pray Cats and Dogs

How would you introduce a 6 month old german Shep to a house with 1, 5month kitten and a 2 yr old cat. You would never guess that we love our pets. We are taking the dog from a family who doesnt have the time and strength to look after her and she needs so much training also. She jumps up on people, lies on furniture and goes to sleep on the bed of the current owner and we take her sometime over the weekend or next week..but she is a loverly dog

Hi,
First i would say check the dog is ok with cats.
You could try introducing them whilst the dog is on his lead to see how he reacts. And i would also suggest that you let them meet a few times before you get the dog as you don't want to get him and realise you need to get rid of either the cats or the dog.

i have introduced cats and dogs quite alot as i used to have a few cats,
the trick is to be calm yourself make sure there is somewhere for your cats to hide cause they will want to, keep dog on lead at begging till dog has calmed down, when off lead keep close eye on dog if it starts to chase them,
don't let your cats outside till alright with the dog as they may not come back. good luck with it, mine lived calmly together once this process had passed.
i hope this helps as well.
