Dog The dog Listener

Hi,
I'm currently reading a book called The dog listener by Jan Fennell and i'd definatly recommend it.
It was recommended by the RSPCA lady to my partner, i personally thought it was a load of rubbish! But i started reading it and there are some really good bits.
For those that don't know its writen by a lady who has a 'unique understanding' of dogs and she gives us tips and advice on how we can learn to communicate with dogs.
Has anyone else read this?
x

I agree what you say about some of it being a little silly and i also think some of it wouldn't work but i'm up for giving it a go anyway! I'd love to be proved wrong and have the most perfect acting dogs! lol

Default The dog listener...great book

Just wanted to write and say i completely agree with what you guys have said. The majority of her book is brilliant.
My akita girl was 18 months old when i put in place the 5 minute rule (i.e. ignoring the dogs attempts for attention until you are ready to give the dog attention.)
Sashi used to run down the stairs to greet you, jumping up etc, so according to Jan Fennel I ignored her on re-entering the home for 5 minutes and by the fourth day of this new rule, my dog just stayed sitting at the top of the stairs until i have taken my shoes off and made a cup of tea and had sat down! after just 4 days, and 6 months on her behaviour is still great!
would recommend!
Sarah
