Present Greetings from the South East!

Hello everybody.

I stumbled upon the forum when googling for clicker trainin tips a while ago, and have been lurking ever since. Happy to say I've successfully clicker trained my 14 month old, Kay, without needing to ask too many questions elsewhere!

I live in a small part of England, in the South-East region, called Bedfordshire. It's actually pretty big, so I'm not too weary about sharing that information! I have three dogs of my own, but live with 5. My most recent dog is Kay. She's a 14 month old Doberman, still very much puppy. Prior to her (as in, two days prior to her) I said goodbye to my sweet Dobie boy who was PTS at the age of 17 months, on the 20th of January earlier this year.

Kay's been the light at the end of the tunnel. She kept my mind off of everything and gave me a gorgeous (she was actually a pretty ugly puppy...) bundle of black and tan to focus on. I had a bit of a behaviour scare when she was around 7 months old. Did a lot of research, and my scare was over. I'd thought she was becoming aggressive, but learned it was just reactivity, which I thought were the same thing (uneducated much?!). We're progressing very quickly with training, and her reactivity to other dogs is very slowly shrinking back and being replaced by a calm curiosity.

I had the biggest breakthrough in her life today, which is what prompted me to register to the forum. I don't take her for walks normally, as we have a field behind the house that we're allowed to use, but today I armed myself with treats, and set out for the substitute dog park, and she reared up, very, very slowly, once, which was my fault entirely...And she woofed at one dog. It was a very busy day, so many dogs. I was, and still am, very proud of her.

Kay is the first dog I've raised, trained, cared for and bonded with on my own. She's my little 88lb masterpiece! However, I have two beautiful little Terriers as well. They aren't forgotten, and Kay isn't a "favourite", but I've registered on behalf of my progress and successes with Kay. Everything I've learned has been thanks to Kay, and where she's taken me in the Dog Training world. This means my two Terrors won't be the center of my posts.

I wanted to introduce myself to the forum, because I hope to be sticking around and sharing my small bit of knowledge with everybody.
