Hello Janet, and welcome!
That depends what you can afford. I've heard wonderful things about Taste of the Wild and Orijen, but neither seemed to sit well with my dogs.
I have mine on a bogstandard, cheapy Working Dog Biscuit Food from the local Farm Shop. Never had a problem with it. If you want what the commercials class as "best food" then just follow what they say. If you want what really is the best food for your dog, then go for what would better suit your dog.
For example: Orijen gave my dogs the squits. However, my dogs are working dogs. They run and run and run, multiple times a day. They have a working lifestyle. So, even though Orijen is more expensive and said to be good, the cheap stuff I thought I'd have to change turned out to be better for my individual dogs.
I'm not entirely sure about nutrition and whatnot. I know the basics. Corn is bad. LOL.
