Default Puppy Refusing to Eat

My puppy is 6 months old and although she likes her food she is not eating it. She just wants to play with her toys and eat our food. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and had any tips on how to encourage her to eat it. I have tried to take her toys away so that she doesn't get distracted

Hi,
If the puppy is okay eating treats then it doesn't sound like there is a medical problem.
Try making feeding time just that. Put the food infront of the pup and don't allow any toys and don't play with the dog and hopefully the pup will just get bored and hungry.

I can recommend the BARF diet but it doesnt sound like shes being picky. You need to be more assertive, please dont take the toys away from her because this can cause guarding or possesivness. You need to get a routine of feeding her, when you feed her distract her with a treat so she leaves the toys then move them so she cannot have them. Put her in a room on her own with the food and leave, give her 20 mins to eat her food, if she doesnt pick it up and cover it up for the next meal. Dont speak to her or stroke her when you picking it up as i imagine she will not eat it the first time. just take it away and carry on with the day, later on do the same thing dont speak to her or stroke just put the food down leave for 20 mins then take away.

It sounds to me like she is in control of when she eats not you, your the boss so be stern. She will eat when she is hungry she will relinquish control for a meal. If she does eat it treat in the same manner dont speak or stroke her. Her reward is eating her food. Also what are you feeding her?

We are feeding her Science Plan which she does seem to like but just when she wants. Really appreciate your advice and she seems to have got a bit better.
