Sad Terrible recall

I have a 10 month cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/ Poodle cross) dog.
I adopted him from my sister after a divorce and move which meant she could no longer look after him.
I have had him for two months.
He has always been really good about coming back to me to go on his lead when i call him whilst on a walk. Within thew past week he has suddenly changed and started playing and running off when our walk is over. He gets down on his haunches and starts barking and running about as if ui am playing a game of chase with him.
Today he ran off and into a road which although is normally quiet had a car coming down it at the moment he ran into it. It really scared me and after that incident he still wouldn't come back to me.
The only way i managed to get him back is to turn my back on him, ignore him and when he got close grab his collar.
He is very easy to train in most ways and picks up things really easily but i am at a loss as to why he suddenly has started doing this.
Please help anyone?!!
