Default Whats the best way to deal with this

My puppy is now 10 weeks old, and I am still toilet training him. If he wets on the house floor I simply say no and put him out into the garden where he should go. He just runs straight back in unless I go out with him. I have tried to shut the door just to leave him out for five minutes on his own, but he cries and scratches at the door. If I ignore him he will scratch the paint off the door, but If I let him in I am giving in to him. He will play in the garden on his own at other times, when the door is open. Any advice please would be appreciated

You need to set up a habit. The habit should be something like:

Every hour go to door as you say your command word 'Come and hurry up' or 'Go wee wee' ask for a quick sit and wait.

The lead should be on at this point as you exit the door walk with him on the lead to your chosen spot whereby you repeat the commands. When he goes say 'goooog hurry up, or gooood wee wee etc. The ntreat and come back in with a sit along the way....nice and easy and simple.

Allowing your dog to sort himself out will probably fail; he has no idsea what it is you want, so show him

We stopped using the lead at this point as he caught on so quickly. For most dogs though the use of a lead is invaluable!

Good luck!
