Dog Puppy Chewing! HELP!

Hello, I am the very proud owner of a 21 weeks old Jack Russell Terrier and an 11 week old Border collie - both dogs.

Although my JRT has had some trouble regarding training because he is so stubborn my BC pup has been really easy and picks up new things really quick.

They both sleep in our new kitchen and the past few nights we have got up to take them out and noticed they have been chewing the wood. Although we initially thought it was our JRT because he is at his teeething stage we are now wondering whether it may be our BC, maybe due to lack of stimulation? We have even had a trainer in to try and crate train them, however this has been to no avail.

Has anyone got any ideas of how we can prevent this happening? I seem to remember a spray of some description that you can spray onto furniture to prevent a pup from chewing? We have them a kong for them to keep them entertained but they never bother with it.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Lisa-Marie & Paul

When my 18 week labradoodle was into chewing wood and things we gave him a raw hide knuckle bone which kept him occupied for a very long time. I hope this is of some use

Have you ever thought about crating them in the night? Might stop you needing to take them out as well as stop them chewing the wood. If I can't supervise my 10 week old puppy for whatever reason (including during the night) he goes into what I call his "playpen" - it's a very large crate with a smaller sleeping crate inside, but yours sound as if they just need a sleeping size one each. Anyway, respect to you for being brave enough to have two pups at the same time! By the way, I've heard that the various sprays meant to deter chewing aren't that effective but haven't used them myself.
