History
The Greenland Dog has been in existence in the Arctic regions since very old times. The descendance of these dogs can be traced back about 12 000 years ago to the people of Siberia who had these dogs as companions. The Greenland dog is very rare, and most people who hasone of these have proably imported them from Greenland. Even today, very little of these litters are born.
Characteristics
The Greenland dog is very autonomous, but also very calm. They will try to dominate, and can also be very tough on themselves – they have a mind of their own. Greenland Dogs does not bark very often, but by tend to howl quite a bit. These dogs will not adapt well in the city, as they love the outdoors. They have lots and lots of energy and great stamina.
Temperament
These dogs can be a bit cold, and they are also very independent. The Greenland dog can also very affectionate toward an owner they get to bond with. These dogs are mainly working dogs, and they have a distinctive Nordic temperament that goes with their loyalty. These dogs have to work, and will not lie around the house all day. Recently, these dogs have also become very popular as hiking companions in Sweden and Norway. These dogs also live with the Eskimos, and here they will pull sleds and help them hunt for seals and bears.
Care

Training
It is fairly difficult to train these dogs seeing that they are so independent of nature – they also have a mind of their own. These dogs are not ideal family pets, and will do better as a sleigh dog. The Greenland dog is able to cover very long distances if they are provided with the opportunity.
