History

The origin of these dogs is not entirely sure, but it is believed by many that the Japanese Spitz has its descendance from the Siberian Samoyed. Some believe that the Samoyeds were solely bred for smallness - and the end result then being the Japanese Spitz. All the features of the Japanese Spitz dog suggest that it is purely a small version of the Samoyed dog. These dogs were very popular in Japan during the 1950s - and are now also very popular in Europe and in North America.

Characteristics

The Japanese Spitz dog is a very exuberant dog - they are also very clever and fond of playing. This breed is also very attentive and obedient.
