How to get your puppy to come on command.

Puppy Come Command

This is the one command that could be a hero in a life and death situation for your dog; however it is the hardest to teach. You should teach your puppy not to wonder off when they're young so it's easier for them to learn. Try to start this command in a quiet space, kneel down towards your puppy then say "Come", instantaneously praise them as if they'll obey you, as it will set the right atmosphere.

You have to sound like a person your puppy will want to come to, as puppies don't want to miss out on anything enjoyable. All the family can do this and take it turns to call your puppy, move to new places around the house and keep your voice happy and cheerful even if the puppy can't see you, as they will need to hear you to find you. Take your puppy out to a safe quiet place, let them sniff around and then go and hide. Start to call them excitedly and keep it going until your dog comes. They'll start to keep an eye on where you're going from now on and pay more attention to where you are.

While you're on a walk try turning around and walking back the way you came and call your puppy without looking back, if they're taking a while to follow, try to pick up the pace or run, young puppies don't want to be left without you and will soon catch up, but be careful as they get older though as they are more likely to get distracted or misbehave. Use food to reward them and make it as exciting as you can for them. After all this your pup will think it's a great game and will like to be taught this command.
