Puppy House Breaking Routine At Work

You need to make time for your puppy when you have a job, especially if you're working 9am-5pm. In the morning before work you have to make time for playing, training and walking your puppy as they'll be very energetic after a night's sleep. Sitting inside all morning is not fair on your puppy and will make training tough. In the first eight to nine months of having your puppy, it's recommended that you hire a dog walker for mid-day walks if you're at work (this doesn't mean you can skip the morning walk).

When you're in work your puppy won't be able to go outside to use the toilet and certainly won't hold it in till you get home, so put down some paper for him/her and confine them to a certain area. They will also need company at some point while you're away if you can't hire a dog walker.

Crate your puppy after or before the midday walk after a 16 week period. You can crate them after and before the walk as they get older. You can now also move your midday walk to the afternoon, this helps your puppy (at seven months of age) not to go to the toilet for eight hours and wait till the afternoon walk.

When you get home, don't feel guilty about leaving your puppy alone and then give them a lot of attention. It will create problems, and although the puppy will love it he will find it even harder when you leave. Rather give your puppy attention after training or exercising. This will work more positively in the long run.
