History
Skye Terriers are exclusive and unique among the Terrier breeds. They are originally from the Isle of Skye, Scotland and have been in existence since the 16th century. There are two types of Skye Terriers – the one type are drop eared and the other are prick eared. The drop eared type were favoured for working farms, and the prick eared terriers were preferred as companion or show dogs. Skye Terriers are a low and level breed of dogs.
Characteristics
The Skye terrier is a very well-mannered dog – also graceful and brave. These dogs are very low, and their length is twice that of their height. They are supple and muscular dogs and often referred to as the upper class dogs on the farms. Skye Terriers have a very appealing personality, and they also possess a lot of skills.
Temperament
Although these dogs are very lively, they are also laid back. Skye Terriers are very brave, and they are also very trustworthy and devoted. The Skye terrier will often form a close relationship with someone in his family, and are very aware of the emotions of their owners.
